Chris Moon Story

Chris Moon challenges the concept of limitation. His training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and experiences as an Army officer provided a world-class grounding in leadership, motivation and man-management.

Chris then became a Team Leader for the Halo Trust; clearing landmines in Asia and Africa. When kidnapped by Khmer Rouge guerrillas, he became one of the few Westerners to survive such an ordeal.

Then in 1995, while working in Mozambique, Chris was blown up by a landmine, losing his lower right arm and leg. Within a year of leaving hospital, Chris ran the London Marathon, worked to ban landmines and completed a Masters Degree in Security Management. He later became the first amputee to run the Marathon des Sables and the Badwater Death Valley Ultra Marathon. Chris has led climbers to the summit of Kilimanjaro and run the length of Cambodia to raise funds for charities assisting the disabled and disadvantaged. Chris constantly challenges himself and now runs faster than at any time since he was injured. In September 2010 he became one of a handful of people in the world to run more than a marathon day for 30 days continuously, covering over 1000 miles.

In 1996, Chris was awarded an MBE and two years later, in recognition of his humanitarian work, he was given the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame into the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Nagano Winter Olympics. His achievements have been featured in the media, with coverage in national newspapers and magazine articles. His numerous TV and radio appearances include GMTV, The Larry King Live Show and the Parkinson Show.
